James William Ashley

Winchester – age 86, passed December 11, 2017in Winchester, TN. He lived in Nashville, TN for 44 years, and then retired to his birth city (Winchester, TN) in 1998. He was employed by the Marquette Company, and in his early career, served as President of his Union for a number of years. He is preceded in death by his parents, Maggie Bailey Ashley Gass and James Roy Ashley, son, Donnie Nelson Ashley, Hendersonville, TN.

He is survived by his sister, Evelyn Gass Caldwell and brother, Thomas Ashley both of Winchester. He is also survived by his wife, Maudie Stewart Ashley; children, Sandi Ashley Sutton, Atlanta, GA; Terry William Ashley, Goodlettsville, TN; Tim Ray Ashley, Greenville, SC; Ted Martin Ashley, Greenville, SC; 12 grandchildren, Felicia Ashley Long, Hendersonville, TN; Heather Ashley, Red Boiling Springs, TN; Timmy Ashley, Greenville, SC; Taylor James Ashley of Nashville, TN; Allison Ashley, Nashville, TN; James Richard Ashley, Greenville, SC; Christopher Ashley, Greenville, SC; Michael Ashley, Greenville, SC; Josh Ashley, Greenville, SC; Jacob Ashley, Greenville, SC; Jessie Ashley, Greenville, SC; Jasmine Ashley, Greenville, SC; 9 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren.

Mr. Ashley was known for his kind heart, gentle spirit, unselfish love, warm smile and overall was a very fine man, who will be remembered forever and sorely missed. The world was a better place with him in it.

A celebration of life will be conducted Saturday, December 16, 2017 at 2:00 with visitation from 1:00 in the chapel of Forest Lawn Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
